Providence Community Health Centers (PCHC) is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) and has been caring for residents of Providence and its neighboring communities for more than 50 years. PCHC has 550 employees working in eight primary care health centers including one located at Rhode Island’s largest homeless shelter and one embedded in a regional psychiatry facility. PCHC also offers PCHC Express (urgent care) open 7 days, plus in-house specialty clinics for Podiatry, Optometry, Dental, Dermatology, Asthma/Allergy, and a school-based health center -- all within the city’s limits.
PCHC clinics are Patient-Centered Medical Homes (NCQA recognition, Level 3) that ensure adults, children, and families have access to quality primary health care. PCHC’s 60,000 patients will make more than 250,000 medical visits to its clinics, which are located in Providence’s densely populated multi-ethnic neighborhoods. PCHC physicians deliver nearly 1200 babies – more than 10% of the babies born in Rhode Island. As the primary care provider for more than one-third of the adults and children residing in Providence, PCHC is the leader in community health and primary medicine in Providence.
